The solution
Send a 5.5 mm camera in instead of your hand.
The head is 5.5 mm across, so it goes down a sink trap or into a spark-plug recess. Six LEDs sit around the lens and dim all the way down, so a dark cavity is still readable.
It plugs straight into your phone and runs off it — no battery to charge, no Wi-Fi box to pair. USB-C, Lightning and USB-A connectors are in the box, so it works with an iPhone or an Android.

How to use it

- Plug it in and allow the app to use the device when your phone asks.
- Feed the cable in slowly, then turn the LED dial until the picture is clear.

Works with iPhone and with Android. USB-C, Lightning and USB-A connectors are all in the box, so it plugs into whatever phone you already have — iPhone or iPad on iOS 9 and newer, Android phones and tablets on Android 4.4 and newer.
A 5.5 mm camera on the end of a cable. It plugs into your phone and your phone becomes the screen. Six small LEDs sit around the lens and dim as far down as you like, so a pitch-black cavity is still readable. A magnet, a hook and a side mirror clip on for fishing things out and looking round corners.
Read this before you buy
- Phone compatibility: iPhone and iPad (iOS 9 or newer) and Android (4.4 or newer). Three connectors in the box: USB-C for most Android phones, Lightning for older iPhones, USB-A for a laptop. Newer iPhones with a USB-C port use the USB-C connector.
- The picture is 480p. Enough to find a blockage, a leak, a crack or a dropped ring — not enough to read small print.
- It is sharpest between 3 and 10 cm from whatever you are pointing at.
